Murudeshwar is a unique destination where spirituality meets adventure. The temple complex is built on a small hill (Kanduka) surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides. While the 123-feet Shiva statue is a spiritual marvel, the beach right next to it is a hub for tourists.

What to do here?
Start with the Temple: Take the lift to the top of the 20-story Raja Gopura for a bird's eye view. Visit the cave museum below the statue. Then head to the Beach: It offers excellent water sports like Jet Skiing and power boating. The sunset view with the silhouette of the Shiva statue is iconic.
The Story & History
The location is mythologically linked to the Ramayana. When Ravana failed to lift the Atma Linga, pieces of the covering cloth fell here, sanctifying the ground.
Important Tips
The temple closes from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, so use this time to enjoy lunch or the beach. The floor gets very hot in the afternoon; visit the temple early morning or late evening.
